About NYŌŌ
 

Nyōō is the phonetic spelling for ‘new’.

We’re a small independent brand founded in 2019 by me, Lucy Jo Newell, with paintings + print designs from my other half, artist and painter Nicholas Newman.

‘Inspired by nostalgia for a slower paced world,’

I aim to create timeless pieces to suit people of all sizes and ages.

I’ve always had an affinity with the music and fashions of the 60’s and 70’s, of which the colour palettes tended to be quite earthy, with pops of pattern. These tones, feeling so natural, seemed the right direction to take with Nick’s landscape paintings of the Peak District. Our designs are inspired by these era’s, with a modern contemporary feel.

I grew up being fascinated by second hand markets, i love a good flea market, vintage shop, charity shop, car boot sale, .. You name it!

I spend a lot of my time collecting a plethora of second hand fabrics to create new clothing from, I love to breathe new life into these fabrics and reuse resources that already exist.

I make to order, (a one woman show) ..meaning i only make what is needed, so little to no wasted fabric or materials. Many of the materials I use are natural, organic and recyclable. I try to use deadstock and fabric roll ends, so most items will only ever be available in small runs, making your made to order garment even more exclusive.

Each and every garment is thoughtfully created from scratch. The print designs by Nick, and the clothing designs to pattern cutting, manufacture, packing orders and customer service is all done by me in my Sheffield studio.

All of our printed items are locally silkscreen printed in water-based eco friendly inks onto earth positive garments.

All of our packaging and branding is 100% recyclable.

Ethical production takes time..

Our handmade items are made by me to order, so please allow at least 21 days for production. If you need something for a particular date, do not hesitate to ask for a quicker turnaround.

I don’t specifically offer made to measure.. but as everything is made to order, small adjustments are welcome, just drop me a message and i’ll see what I can do!

Our other items are ready to ship straight away.
